The month of September is dedicated to pre-fesstival events that will take place in the theatre chapiteau, as usually set up below the Museum of Slovak National Uprising. Starting on 9th September, you will have a chance to visit The Puppet Theatre Fun House, made out of puppets, sets, costumes and theatre curiosities lent to us by Žilina Puppet Theatre, Bratislava Puppet Theatre, Karol Spišiak Old Theatre in Nitra, Košice Puppet Theatre, Puppet Theatre at the Crossroads in Banská Bystrica and Slovak National Museum – Museum of Puppet Cultures and Toys in Modrý Kameň. The interactive exhibition will take place from 9th September until the end of the Festival on 4th October 2016. And for your family weekends, we have also prepared a theatrical journey into the world of fairy-tales: Familiarium and a theatre-focused family quiz for both young and old.
Project Familiarium has originated at the occasion of the jubilee Bábkarská Bystrica TOUR 2016. This innovative project acts on creativity nestled inside children and their parents or children and their adult guardians. This family journey into the world of fairytales introduces an unusual kind of performance in which the parent (adult guardian) play-acts well-known stories to their child/ren: Cinderella, Old Bodrik and the Wolf, etc. And after the interactive part is over, PTAC’s very own actors and actresses will await our spectators with another surprise - another fairy-tale.
Apart from the performed entertainment, we also invite you to Theatrical Mysteriddles, a great family quiz on Sunday 18th September and 25th September at 4:00 PM. Five rounds consisting of questions from various categories, yet all from the world of puppetry. You may learn many interesting facts about puppet theatre and the Puppet Theatre at the Crossroads itself.
